Encore licenses its DSP based modem, speech
coders and VoIP protocol stacks to OEMs.
Modem code is available either as an
optimised implementation on a specific DSP platform or as
C Reference Code, which has been developed by Encore
engineers to help customers in porting to their target
platforms. Speech Coders are available only as platform
specific assembly code.
Encore has a very flexible pricing
strategy to suit the customer. The two pricing schemes
available are given below:
- Non-Exclusive Source Code Licensing
- Binary Licensing
In each of the above cases of licensing
an upfront fee component is applied towards a source code
or binary licence. Additionally, production royalties
may also be applicable. A Software Licensing Agreement
must be signed with Encore prior to the purchase.
Important:
Certain algorithms based on the ITU-T standards (V.17/V.34 ...
G.723.1/G.729 ...) may have been patented by third parties who
are original developers of the technology. In such cases, the
user of Encore's implementation (either source or binary) might
also have to pay a license fee to that patent holder apart from
paying Encore for the usage of its specific implementation of
such algorithms and must directly negotiate the terms &
conditions with the patent holder.
