Encore has developed a DSP-based implementation of Data/Fax modem technology for high-speed modems that comply with the ITU-T modulation standards for analog telephone lines. These modulation protocols are written as highly modular libraries which can be easily incorporated in various embedded applications.

The Modem technology for Data/Fax is designed around a flexible, programmable "soft-modem" architecture, in which the basic modulation/demodulation protocols are implemented on a digital signal processor. This technology implements a wide range of ITU-T modulation protocol standards for Data and Fax Modems. It has been exhaustively tested on a telephone network emulator for various line impairments and for inter-working against various off-the-shelf modems.

The modem technology and its accessories have been optimised to Texas Instruments' C5000 and C6000 series of DSPs apart from being available as plain 'C' code. However, Encore is also willing to take up customisation of these technologies to clients target platforms.
