Encore Software to focus on DSP tech
Bangalore-based Encore Software Limited, today announced its plans to
introduce a wide range of products and solutions built for the Internet,
based on DSP (digital signal processing) technology and embedded systems.
Encore, which recently amalgamated itself into Ncore Technology Private
Limited, continues to be very focused in its chosen technology areas of
DSP and embedded systems, said Encore`s chairman and CEO, Mr Vinay Deshpande.
He told reporters here that the company would expand its market in Japan,
France, Israel, Malaysia, Norway and USA besides Korea. The company has
successfully developed and licensed several of its technologies to leading
multinational corporations like Zilog, Oki and Mitsubishi. Encore now plans
to develop products in newer areas of telecom.
The company has set up a wholly owned subsidiary in US with a view to
expanding its marketing network. The company is negotiating with about ten
customers to improve the order position from Rs 3 crore. The company estimated
to reach a turnover of about Rs 10 crore by June 2000.
"Wireless technologies that bridge LANs in homes and small offices and the
Internet, coupled with platform-independent, standards-based software solutions,
will have a better success rate than solutions and appliances that cannot connect
to the internet," Mr Deshpande said.
He said Encore received fresh infusion of capital through private placement of
equity shares of Rs 10 each at a premium of Rs 90 per share with leading financial
institutions. It raised about Rs 7 crore, he said. It would come out with a
rights-cum-public issue sometime during the next year, he added.
Besides its advance modem technology the company is entering the wireless
technologies in a big way targeting homes and small offices and the internet to
provide local area network (LAN).
