Eyeing two acquisitions
ENCORE is aiming two acquisitions, one of a US-based company and the other
an Indian one. "We are interested in both of them," Mr Deshpande said. Nothing
has been however, decided, he said.
Encore is to also launch a product aimed at countries with similar economic
profile to India’s. Declining to disclose further details, he said the launch should
happen a few months from now.
In the past, in its avatar as Ncore Technology, the company had launched
`Yantra’, at that time said to be the lightest sub-notebook multimedia PC, which
was indigenously designed and developed.
Incidentally, Mr Deshpande is also one of the original promoters of PSI Data,
which started off as a hardware company.
It was with the aim of repeating what he and his associates did with PSI Data
that the new venture started off by Mr Deshpande and the team that left PSI,
was christened `Ncore’.
