Vinay Deshpande is WEF tech pioneer for 2001
Bangalore: Mr. Vinay L Deshpande, Chairman and CEO of the Bangalore-
based Encore Software, has been selected as one of the World Economic Forum's
100 technology pioneers for the year 2001. Nominations for this programme
are collected from a wide variety of sources and are subject to an independent
selection process. Mr. Deshpande joins the rank of first group of technology
pioneers from India in the year 2000 like N R Narayana Murthy, Chairman and
CEO, Infosys, Azim H Premji, Chairman, Wipro Corporation and Ramalinga Raju,
Chairman, Satyam Computers.
Mr. Deshpande will join the special tech pioneers programme to take place
on the occasion of the World Economic Forum's annual meeting 2001 in Davos
during January-end. "Being selected as one of the Forum's 100 technology
pioneers is great news which has come as a surprise. More than the
recognition, the opportunity to network with other fellow tech pioneers is
what I am looking forward to," said Mr. Deshpande.
